Study Abroad

Nothing nurtures a global understanding more richly than an overseas experience, and at Rose-Hulman studying abroad does not mean delaying graduation. Students benefit from a growing number of partnerships with universities around the world.

Manufacturing, research, and development have traversed the globe, impacting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields to become more global. Twenty-first-century engineers and scientists need to be adaptable. Yet this is not the only reason to travel abroad. Contact with a new culture allows for new problem-solving skills, as well as perspective. Many students say studying aboard was critical to their college career.

Studies show that by 2035 English will not be the most popular language. Many of the current industry headquarters will be located outside of the U.S. Today’s Fortune 500 companies increasingly prefer to hire graduates with international experience.

Many engineering projects have become global in scope and require global knowledge and skills. Multinational corporation products are very likely assembled with parts from different countries. The financial well being of a company, and even the stability of a nation, rely much more on this interdependent global economy.
